Insurance dude called today to give me the bad news. :(
In case you missed it this happened the other day.
You did good in the short time I had you. Carried lots of stuff with ease. Devoured gasoline at an alarming rate. Super comfy on those long rides.
You will be missed.

Is it dead-dead, or is it just take the insurance money and get a salvage title for it and then drive without caring about it dead?

Is there a good alignment shop near you that does frame straightening? It can’t really be that dead

I’d like to get another and maybe get it back as a parts truck, but don’t really have the room to do such a thing.

That’s where it’s at. But now I might call them and ask their opinion on it. (it is catastrophically rusty under there so that might’ve played a part)

I know it’s what they’re designed to do, but holy crap do Beetles seem to get damaged easily in crashes. I had some woman bump into me at a stop sign at maybe 5 mph and there was an astronomical amount of shattered plastic. (She said she didn’t think I was going to stop...?)
The Yukon doesn’t look bad at all!

It has to be SUPER rusty down there, because my Silverado (well, when it was my father-in-law’s) got rear ended just like that and they didn’t total it. Bent the hitch down and everything, no frame damage.

My wife’s 2013 Explorer looked about the same when it was rear-ended last November. It was rust free, but the damage underneath was extensive. They were talking about replacing the floor from the back hatch to the front seats. It was totaled.

Curious what the insurance company will give you for the loss. Hopefully you will do ok, and glad no one was hurt.
